Jiander ...

"Jiander" is a combination of the Dutch word "ander" which means "the other" and the Indian word "ji", which indicates reverence and respect. Jiander: respect for others.

Jianderfonds is an organization operating in The Netherlands aimed at supporting developmental projects in India and Sri Lanka by bringing together resources that contribute to this noble purpose. India with its enormous population (approximately more than one billion!!) and Sri Lanka with its history of unending civil war, lags behind in terms of human development and has many a social and political issues to be reckoned with. In fact in India, we can speak of a project in every street corner.

The country has many bottlenecks to be resolved in terms of social development, health and education. Jianderfonds is trying to address those issues in helping the local partners in these countries who are dedicated in implementing developmental programmes.

We are in contact with many local developmental stake holders and help them in the implementation of the social developmental programmes. We mostly support small but concrete projects on different developmental issues. One or more of the board members of the Jianderfonds visit the local projects at least once in a year to evaluate the development of the projects and to see what we can do to further improve the situation. All of the donated money to the Jianderfonds is directly spent on the projects. The board select a project for the funding proposed by an individual partner, considering its purpose, direct benefit on the beneficiaries of the project, its long-term sustainability and financial reliability to the proposed project.  The periodical reports about the progress of the project are insisted from the stakeholder to ensure the implementation and progress of the project.

Are our projects:“a drop in the ocean”!  Maybe, but every drop counts!!
